After Hours
Urgent health care issues don’t always present themselves at convenient times, so we’ve developed the following resources to help you when faced with an after hours problem. Please save routine questions (mild illness, appointments, prescriptions refills, behavior issues) for the morning.
This Website
"Is Your Child Sick?" is our online triage system that utilizes the same nurse triage protocols used by over 20,000 pediatricians and almost every children’s hospital. Just select your child’s
symptom(s) from the drop-down list and you will be given basic instructions on how to manage the problem, when to seek medical care, and what symptoms warrant urgent care.
After Hours Nurse Triage Service
When our office is closed overnight and you have an urgent issue that cannot wait until morning, you can call our office and be connected to our nurse triage service line. It is staffed by pediatric nurses who will give you advice on the management of your child’s problem and help you decide if or when you need to seek medical care. This service is available only to our established patients. There is a charge for this service so if your concern is not urgent, you may want to wait until our office reopens. If the nurse determines that your concern is urgent, she will contact our physician on call and he or she will contact you.
Pediatric Acute Care Service (PACS)
PACS provides weekend and holiday urgent care. PACS is a partnership between JDC Pediatrics and Darowish and Associates Pediatrics. The physicians take turns seeing our patients with urgent (also known as ‘acute’) medical problems that cannot wait until our offices reopen on Monday morning.
PACS hours are:
Saturday 1 pm to 8 pm
Sunday 11 am to 6 pm
PACS phone number is 717-909-1910 but you can still reach PACS by calling JDC’s main number, (717) 791-2680, on the weekends.
You can find more info about PACS on our Services page under ‘Urgent Care’.
